Hello, my childhood friend.

A little girl slips on some gravel and strikes the back of her head against a rock. The gash requires stitches and her hair is shaved over the spot. The kids make fun of her and call her Frankenstein but she likes the attention. She is proud of the event.

Fifty-seven years later the woman gets cancer, it doesn’t matter which kind. The chemotherapy makes her hair fall out. She raises a mirror to the back of her head and sees the scar for the first time clearly. The scar draws a thread across time and her life becomes one thing. She feels alright.
